Collaborative Manuscript Editing (fiction)

Editing isn’t just about fixing typos and smoothing prose (though we do that too). It’s about understanding your story—who your characters ARE, how they come to life and the world they live in, and what journeys they are taking. It’s also about knowing who your readers are.
We work with you, not at you. You’ll see our thinking. You’ll have choices. We’ll both learn something in the process. And your book will be better for it. This process can include some pushback – from both sides – to get to the right decision about YOUR story.
Our process: Initial read + detailed paper markup. Then we move to Google Docs where you see our suggestions, accept what lands, reject what doesn’t, rewrite your own way. We do this together, thoughtfully, for as many rounds as it takes to get it right.
We also create character maps, chapter breakdowns, and style guides so we’re tracking the same details, catching inconsistencies, and keeping the story honest.

Whether your life story, or your life’s learning that you are ready to teach, telling your truth is a vulnerable and empowering project. One that we will treat with care.
Non-fiction takes many different forms – creative narrative with lots of heart, professional educator with a lesson to bring to the world, Journals, How-to’s and Self-Help across so many topics!
Our process: Similar to fiction, there are lots of details. Maybe not characters, but themes and concepts work the same way.
We start with your manuscript in whatever form you provide. Using tracked changes, we’ll do a first pass for structure, then after you’ve made choices about that, we’ll dive in for two passes of copy and line editing. If you have a lot of images (photos, charts, whatever), we’ll discuss how to process those and use them in the most compelling way.
Interior Book Design

A beautiful book that’s hard to read is just a frustrating book. Interior design is about the reader experience—clean typography, comfortable margins, manageable line lengths, smart spacing. Your job is a great story they can’t put down, our job is a book they can comforably look at and hold for all that time.
We handle everything from frontispiece to back cover: typography, layout, widows/orphans, images (yours), front matter, back matter. The technical stuff that makes reading feel effortless.

Book Cover Design

Your cover is the first conversation your book has with a reader. We’re not here to slap a stock image under bold text and call it done (though we can, if that’s really what you want).
A great cover understands the undercurrents of your story—the symbols, the motifs, the unspoken personality living between the lines. It finds nuance. It whispers before it shouts. It makes someone stop scrolling and think, “I need to read this.”
We’ll explore what your book is really saying, dig into the details that matter, and build a cover that does the work.
